Abstract:
The amount and direction of the reversed flow is controlled by changing the cascade baffles on cascade thrust reversers. Efflux-pattern describes the circumferential distribution of the exhaust flow from the thrust reverser cascades around a nacelle, which needs to meet the requirements of reverse thrust efficiency, re-ingestion characteristics and the effective flow area. In this paper, the design and verification of thrust reverser efflux-pattern were carried out for typical wing-mounted layout civil aircraft. Through CFD numerical simulation of the aircraft/engine integrated configuration, the path and the influence factors of the reverse thrust flow were analyzed, the re-ingestion flow physics of the reverse thrust flow was revealed, and the design scheme of the efflux-pattern was optimized. Through the wind tunnel test, it was verified that the efflux-pattern design scheme has no re-ingestion at the rolling speed of 65 kn. Meanwhile, it was verified that the CFD numerical simulation method can accurately predict the velocity boundary of the reversed flow re-ingestion and the inlet distortion region, and can be used for the design and verification of the thrust reverser efflux-pattern.
