Abstract:
The harmonious blend of urban and rural development marks a pivotal aspect of China's modernization efforts, aiming to dismantle the urban-rural dichotomy, enlarge the realm for premium development, and ensure prosperity is shared among all citizens. Townships act as vital links fostering the two-way exchange of resources between urban and rural zones, facilitating the urbanization of agricultural populations in their vicinity, and are instrumental in overcoming the dual system’s obstacles, thus driving the unified growth of both sectors. Situated in the Yellow River’s upper stretches, Tangke Town commits to environmental principles and capitalizes on its natural assets. Through the innovative “Scenery-Town Integration” strategy, which uses tourism as a lever, the town has embarked on constructive endeavors towards safeguarding the environment and pursuing high-quality growth in the region. This model, rooted in environmental conservation, not only improves the scenic and living conditions but also aims at revitalizing the economy by optimizing industries, boosting local incomes, and fostering the flourish of industries; it further delves into cultural heritage, enhances administrative measures, and cultivates townships that are both peaceful and aesthetically pleasing. The practice of urban-rural integration development provides useful reference for other regions in the upper reaches of the Yellow River to achieve ecological protection and high-quality development.
