Abstract:
The "toilet revolution" spreads from the tourism field to the whole country, which promotes the reform and reconstruction of urban public health space. Taking Qingcheng courier station as an example, this paper explores the evolution process of public toilet space production in Hohhot, the dimension composition and power mechanism of Qingcheng courier station space production with space production theory and qualitative research methods, such as participatory observation, literature review and in-depth interview. The results show that: 1) The public toilets in Hohhot have experienced the transformation from outdated toilet to the urban public toilet system represented by Qingcheng courier station in the urban transformation. 2) Space production of Qingcheng courier station consists of three spatial dimensions: physical space, social space, and cultural space. 3) The main driving forces to promote the space production of Qingcheng courier station are institutional atmosphere, government leadership, public demand and enterprise participation. Finally, the paper puts forward some suggestions from the aspects of government supervision, commercial operation and public participation to the development of Qingcheng courier station based on the research.
