Abstract:
Purpose/Significance To study the impact of urbanization and aging on the development of the life insurance market in China can provide reasonable suggestions for the healthy development of life insurance industry.
Method/Process Based on the panel data of 31 provinces, cities and autonomous regions in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) from 2007 to 2016, this paper uses GMM method to carry out an empirical analysis.
Result/Conclusion The results show that the positive impact of urbanization on life insurance market are mainly reflected in the density and market share, but it is not conducive to the depth of life insurance. Aging has a significant positive impact on the density, depth and market share of life insurance, which indicates that the current aging process is not only conducive to the growth of per capita premiums and the proportion increase of life insurance in the whole insurance market, but also conducive to the improvement of the status of life insurance in the whole national economy.
