Abstract: “Suiyang County-Xingren City” urban chain is an important part in the city chain of “Chengdu-Suining-Chongqing-Zunyi-Guiyang-Qujing-Kunming”, whose quality directly influences the development of the southwest urban agglomeration. It is of great significant to explore proactively the development mode of “Sui-xing urban chain”. The development of the chain relies on the quick formation of a central city group consisting of Zunyi, Guiyang, Anshun and Xingren and the transition node, so that the "Sui-xing Chain" can be put in the main axis of Guizhou urban system and plays an essential role in the construction of southwest urban agglomeration. This study analyzes and explores the specific measures in construction of Sui-xing urban chain by literature review and field survey, and also discusses the interaction between these cities, on the basis of regional economic theory that deals with the relationship among regional central city, county-level city and township-level city. The research points out that the construction of Sui-xing urban chain depends on the building of the central city group of Zunyi, Guiyang, Anshun and Xingren, and joining the regional central cities by three transition nodes: “Xifeng-Kaiyang-Xiuwen”, “Qingzhen-Pingba”, “Zhenning-Guanling”. When constructing the central city groups and transition nodes, it is necessary to break through the restriction of administrative division, to integrate the city centers at different levels, to strengthen the construction of urban chain and city groups, to deal with the relationship between points and aspects as well as the relationship between the top and bottom in the urban system, to emphasize the length and width of city chain, and to form an urban system with regional central cities as its core.
