Purpose/SignificanceTechnological progress and economic development may result in environmental pollution and a waste of resources. The Chinese government has formulated relevant policies and regulations, aiming to promote green management of corporations through institutional support and favorable policies. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the mechanism and contextual moderators of policy support for green management.
Method/ProcessThis research builds an integrated framework among institutional support, strategic flexibility, and corporation green management, discusses how corporations can utilize institutional support to promote green management through the mediating mechanism of strategic flexibility, and analyzes the moderating effects of technological capability and competitorties.
Result/ConclusionEmpirical tests from 303 paired Chinese enterprises confirm that institutional support can take strategic flexibility as the intermediary mechanism to significantly improve the green management of enterprises, and this relationship has been strengthened in enterprises with higher technological capabilities and stronger ties with competitors.
