Abstract:
Liquid bridge widely exists in nature and industry, thereinto liquid bridge force plays an important role.In this paper, the Laplace equation governing the liquid bridge's shape is derived according to the principle of least potential energy.Then the morphologies of the liquid bridges around different punches are solved numerically.The approximated analytical solution is also obtained, which is compared with the numerical results.Finally, the liquid bridge forces about different shapes of the punches, such as cylinder, cone and sphere are calculated respectively.These analyses may be beneficial to micro-manipulation, precision measurement and some engineering or biology processes.
