Three Antitheses in Mencius' and Han Fei's Popular Doctrines

  • Han Fei's theory absorbed prior philosophers' academic research.Making comparison of Han and Meng's theories of people, we easily find that Han Fei's theory is opposite to Mencius' political thoughts in three aspects-people's feelings, people's properties and people's edification.Such antithesis reflects the opposition of "valuing people" in the benevolence theory and "exploiting people" in the sovereign dictatorship theory.
