On the Connection between Li Jie-ren's Novels and the Literature of Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China

  • Li Jie-ren always gave literature examples from late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China when talking of literature in different periods. His rise from newspaper office of Late Qing Dynasty took the road of the first generation Chinese professional novelists who mainly consisted of newsmen. This indicates new literature of China did not grow from the inside but closely related to the literature practice at that time. And this connection set the tone and orientation of Li Jie-ren's works, which contributed exceptional width and humanity to his regional history writing and finally formed his personality and marginal literature taste in modern Chinese literature history.
