Characteristics of the kinship Terms in Sichuan Dialect

Based on the investigation of kinship terms in Sichuan and adjacent areas from 20 dialect collection stations, this paper analyzes its characteristics in three aspects. First, the characteristics in phonetics, morphology and pragmatics are summarized in comparison with Mandarin; then, internal differential characteristics are found in contrast between the various sub-dialects; and finally the overall kinship terms in Sichuan dialect has a tendency of simplicity in the past century, compared to its characteristics in former documents.
