The Chronology of Ba-Shu Literature in Han Dynasty(Ⅱ)

  • In Han Dynasty, Ba-Shu literature enjoyed its thriving. Many scholars have long been concerning with the regional study of Ba-Shu literature. So far, achievements have covered individual prolific authors, literary groups, history of Ba-Shu literature, and characteristics of Ba-Shu literati from the perspectives of folkloristics and humanism. And chronological study is a new dimension in Ba-Shu literature, which provides a good platform for studies. Diachronically, literary evolution can easily be concluded from chronology; synchronic researches can also be done on the communication, learning and influences between contemporaneous literati. Meanwhile, further study on regional literature is in great need due to the lack of in-depth research and ignorance to many authors and works for centuries. Thus, The chronology of Ba-Shu literature in Han Dynasty takes the concept of literature in a broad sense, embodies all authors available including those who were ignored before and who had only one piece of work; and it contains not only poesy, ode, prose, but also zouyi, inscription and folksong.
