Study on the Explanatory Power of Theme-rheme Theory to Argumentation

Theme-rheme theory has long been the concern of many language researchers. This paper discusses the function of theme-rheme structures in argumentative passages and presents the explanatory power of the theory to argumentation. In this paper, corpus-based method is used to analyze the features of thematic progression pattern in this genre.
