Abstract
The research aims to investigate the frequency and distribution of self-repairs made by Chinese EFL learners, as well as the relationship between self-repair and language proficiency. The results indicate that Chinese EFL learners make the most error corrections, particularly grammatical errors. Language proficiency is negatively correlated with the frequency of repairs and error corrections, however, positively correlated with appropriateness repairs. In terms of error corrections, language proficiency is negatively correlated with lexical error corrections, grammatical error corrections and phonological error corrections, but positively correlated with grammatical error corrections.
