An Application of Reiss' Text-type Theory in Pragmatic Translation Teaching

Among many researchers of text types, Katharina Reiss is outstanding for her classification of text types characterized by its easiness for understanding and manipulation. She classifies texts into four types:the informative text, the expressive text, the operative text and the audiomedial text, and offers corresponding translation guidance for each text type, quite valuable for pragmatic translation teaching. Taking a scientific text and a tourism text for example, this paper focuses on how to apply Reiss' theory to pragmatic translation teaching in detail.
