Abstract
In his translation of Aesop's Fables, Robert Thom employed the strategies of temporal and spatial framing, selective appropriation of textual material, framing by labeling and repositioning of participants in order to strengthen, weaken or even change some narration in the original English version. He participated in framing narratives in the target context through his translation which exerted great influence on the politics, poetics and culture of the late Qing Dynasty.
