Abstract:
Han Stone Classics, also named Xiping Stone Classics, is the earliest stone-carved Confucius classics. After its publication, it suffered from Dong Zhuo's rebellion and Yongjia riot; then, was destroyed and separately used in Feng Xi's and Chang Bofu's tenure in Luozhou.Later, it was transported three times, from Luoyang to Ye, from Ye to Luoyang and from Luoyang to Chang'an.The first repair occurred in the period of Huangchu, then discussed by Cuiguang in the Northern Wei Dynasty, before it was stored in the Confucian Temple in the Northern Qi Dynasty. But a few were left when collected by Wei Zheng in Tang Dynasty.A small number of stones were unearthed in Tang and Song Dynasties, and during the Republic of China, several hundred of stones were unearthed and stored by collectors.Since the founding of the PRC, the number of unearthed or collected stones amounts nearly a thousand.
