Abstract: This paper discusses and analyzes the relationship between Liu Guangdi's academic thoughts and his reform.Under the influence of the time spirit, Liu Guangdi's academic thoughts kept on were changing.He advocated reform and pushed forward change of theory with the passing of time, covering from the concept of imperial authority to national sovereignty.Furthermore, he revised his research method, developed western learning and prompted the understanding between eastern and western learning.Judging from the relationship between his academic thoughts and reform, he was made by his time and he, in turn, contributed to it.However, as other thinkers, his viewpoints were limited by the times, so were the production and development of his thoughts.
