Abstract: Linpan in western Sichuan is a complex rural settlement integrated with ecology, production and living. Linpan culture is a product of the interaction between local people and the nature, crystallized from agricultural civilization in several thousands of years. The formation and evolution of Linpan culture, which is of high value in history and modern society, has been influenced by geographic, economic, social and cultural factors. This paper analyzes the value from five aspects: as a carrier of Shu culture, an ecological defense, a pastoral scenery, concepts of human settlements and a cultural landscape.
