Abstract: Accompaniment by grandparents in pastoral areas has become a common social phenomenon which has gradually attracted more attention. The article investigates the life dilemmas faced by the pastoral inter-generational accompaniment group by using a combination of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, and the results show that the group of pastoral accompaniment by grandparents generally faced two core dilemmas: increasing life pressure and prominent educational problems. From the perspective of social space, we attribute the living and educational difficulties faced by this group to the forced changes in living space, the limited interaction of communication space and weak foundation of social support space. From the perspective of the social work, it is proposed that the quality of life of the pastoral inter-generational accompaniment group can be improved by advocating group care policies, expanding inter-subject communication channels, and linking social support resources.
