Abstract:
The development of core socialist values has evolved through a historical trajectory spanning from socialist spiritual civilization to the establishment of socialist core value system and, subsequently, the formulation of core socialist values. Reflecting the practical imperatives of socialism with Chinese characteristics, core socialist values embodies the theoretical underpinnings of Chinese socialism, harmonizing the historical and contemporary significance of the fine traditional Chinese culture. In contrast, the development of social democracy in Western Europe has traversed three distinct phases, ranging from the emergence of social democracy in the latter half of the 19th century, to its evolution in the first half of the 20th century, and finally to the social democracy in the post-World War II. The logical progression of social democratic values is intricately linked to the historical and cultural legacies of the nations where social democratic parties operate, as well as the socio-political landscapes they inhabit. The inherent disparities in the historical origins of core socialist values and social democratic values underscore fundamental differences between the two. As China fosters and upholds core socialist values, it must adhere to the guidance of Marxist values and refrain from transplanting social democratic values.
