Liao Ping's Thoughts on Confucian Classics

  • 摘要: 廖平是近世经学大师,其孔子改制之说间接地在晚清维新变法思潮中产生了重大社会影响。然而他将今文经学思想发展到极荒诞的地步:以孔子为素王,以六经为孔子因革改制之作,片面地以礼制区分经今古文学,以《王制》统六经,进而以六经统全球,最后由“天学”建构离奇虚幻的“皇帝之学”。他的荒诞是高度学术水平上探求真知而出现的谬误,故为近世今文经学的终结者。

     

    Abstract: Liao Ping is a master of classics in modern ages, whose Confucian reform played an important role in the trend of constitutional reform and modernization in late Qing Dynasty. But he developed the classic thought extremely absurd: he made Confucius as an emperor, six classics as Confucius restructuring works. What he did differentiate ancient and modern literature by social regulations one-sidedly, put "King's System" on top of the six classics, then made the six classics guide the whole world, and finally constructed a fantastic illusion of "Emperor's thought" produced by "imperial thought". His absurdity is a fallacy of seeking truth at a high academic level. So he is the terminator of modern classics.
