Abstract:
Based on the panel data for export of China enterprises from 2004 to 2015, this paper empirically tests the impact of China's environmental regulations on the export trade of enterprises with estimation methods of OLS and LSDV. The study shows that the internal environmental regulation can effectively improve the export competitiveness of enterprises, but the effect of strict exogenous environmental regulation on the export trade of enterprises is a U type. Further research based on the regional division shows that the relationship between the external environmental regulation and the export trade of the east and central regions is an inverted U, while the western part is a U type. Therefore, this paper suggests that Chinese government should improve the intensity of environmental regulation, but need to adjust measures to local conditions, and implement elasticity environmental regulation policies in different regions, so as to achieve stable and equilibrium export competitiveness of enterprises in all regions of China.
