Abstract: Chinese history is one of the focuses of overseas Chinese studies. In the interview, professor Xie Yuanlu, a famous scholar in history, made a detailed analysis of the development of overseas Chinese history studies. According to Xie, overseas studies on Chinese history have experienced four developing stages:arose in the late Ming Dynasty, formed from the late 19th century to the 1930s; matured from the 1940s to the early 1990s; thriving in the mid-late 1990s till now.At the same time, Xie analyzes the research characteristics of each stage and the deep social background reflected from it. It is of great significance for Chinese culture to understand the development course of overseas studies on Chinese history.
