Abstract:
Foreigners who entered Kham in modern times have been paying close attention to scientific investigation of the extremely high mountains in Kham, and the research entered a "golden age" during the 1920s and 1930s.Taking the original works of the foreign inspectors as the main materials, this paper elaborates the scientific research activities and achievements of the three extreme alpine areas in Kham in the 1920s and 1930s, in which the representative of foreign inspectors are Gregory's team, Joseph Locke and Botshar's team, whose scientific research were mostly done on Baima Snow Mountain, Konkaling Peaks and Minya Konka.Combining with the relevant research literature of Mr.Ren Naiqiang and other scholars at home and abroad, this paper makes an analysis and comment on the achievements of previous inspections.
