Abstract: It is of great significance to analyze the various types of projects granted to Sichuan by National Social Sciences Funding Projects, and to find out the status quo, development trend and competitiveness of Sichuan philosophy and social sciences in order to promote the development of Bashu style philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. Taking the Annual Projects, the Youth Projects, the Western Projects, the Major Bidding Projects, the Post Funded Projects, the Chinese Academic Translation Projects, the Individual Disciplines (Education & Art) Projects of the National Social Sciences Funding and the National Achievements Library of Philosophy and Social Sciences obtained by Sichuan from 2011 to 2018 as samples, this paper makes an analysis of the competitiveness of disciplines and institutions. In order to ensure more comprehensive and accurate analysis, different weights are assigned according to the difficulty of application.Through statistical analysis of the total number of projects in the country, the annual distribution and the City(State) distribution of projects, the distribution of project types, the competitiveness of disciplines and institutions, this paper finds out the development of Sichuan philosophical and social sciences in the past eight years.The research shows that from 2011 to 2018, Sichuan has made steady progress in the number of projects, basically in line with the status of Sichuan as a major social science province.The project has achieved full coverage of 25 disciplines and all types of projects; ethnology, religion, archaeology, international studies, theoretical economy, Chinese literature, Chinese history, applied economy, etc. continue to maintain their traditional characteristics and advantages. Demography, journalism & communication, library & information and documentation, sports, politics, sociology, etc. have achieved strong momentum of development.The number of projects agencies is increasing to 64 institutions, covering 14 cities (states) in Sichuan, and the provincial coverage rate has reached 66.7%. Sichuan University, Southwest University for Nationalities, Southwest University of Finance and Economics, Sichuan Normal University, Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, etc. have become leaders of Sichuan philosophy and social sciences. The paper points out that Sichuan has made great achievements in the past eight years, but some problems exist, such as the ability of academic originality, the international and domestic influence, and the construction of a strong province with social science. In view of the shortcomings, the paper suggests strengthening the construction of the discipline system of Bashu style philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, adding Sichuan Achievements Library of Philosophy and Social Sciences and the Bashu Academic Translation Project into the Sichuan Social Sciences Planning Project, and encouraging and nurturing high-quality original achievements with influence at home and abroad.
