Abstract:
The problematic status in college English education and the national program for engineers of excellence urge for a retuning in English teaching focus. This endeavor is to integrate international workplace technical communication and plain English into the routine instruction. In order to enhance instrumental service of the college English for non-English students, three approaches are recommended to support "Excellence Program": cultivating students' audience awareness in writing, implanting plain English in daily language teaching and incorporating basic visual communication to the textual lecturing.
