Abstract:
In the late Qing Dynasty, northern Sichuan area enjoyed an economic boom and left a lot of vernacular architectures for us. The Song's residence in Nanbu county of Sichuan province is one of the typical example. As a small settlement built by the kinship, the house deeply connects with the prosperity of the family and is the record of their lives. The architectures and the decoration of Song's residence reflect the combination of Confucian culture and folk culture, which is based on a hope of rich life and family prosperity. Through the study of Song's architectural pattern and image, we can get a glimpse of the local history and culture of the late Qing Dynasty in the northern Sichuan province.
