Abstract: Chen Yun belongs to those forerunners who attached great importance to the elimination of environmental pollution and the protection of natural resources. He proposed that the prevention and treatment of environmental pollution should be our government's work focus and that measures like long-term planning, propagandism and education, implementation of responsibility, etc. should be taken to ensure its effect and at the same time, he advocated the protection of forest, water, mines and other natural resources to ensure sustainable development. His thoughts on environmental issues illuminate our understanding of the history of Chinese Communist Party's awareness of and solutions to environmental problems.
