Abstract: The special images of pine trees are fixed in Du Fu's poems. He makes the associative meanings of the pine trees clear. Du Fu is struggling to find out the meaning of life during the miserable times. The theme of Four Pine Trees lies not in the people's livelihood or the country's prospects but in his existence. Du Fu strongly believed that all mortals must die and miseries would disappear while his poems would stay forever. That being said, what he expresses in the poem is to communicate with the future generation and search for the bosom friends.
