Sichuan Railway Protection Movement: Symbol of Ba-Shu Culture Transformation from Classical Form to Modern Form

摘要: 四川保路运动是巴蜀文化性质发生裂变, 由古典形态向现代形态转型的标志, 是百年来中华文化由古典时代进入现代化时代的标志。它突出地表现在城市化意识的加速与市民意识的转换、巴蜀文化对西方民主意识的吐纳与民族革命精神的突起、巴蜀古史的救国主义新解读与巴蜀生活习俗和文化心理的转型三大方面。它为百年来的民族文化觉醒与复兴开启了大幕, 也为中国文化现代化将来的去向指示了路标。

Abstract: Sichuan Railway Protection Movement was an essential mutation of Ba-Shuculture, which is a symbol of Chinese culture transformation from classical form to modern form in the 20^th century.Thoughts of the Movement were prominently embodied in three aspects: acceleration of urbanization and change of public awareness, Ba-Shuculture's absorption and abandonment of western democratic consciousness, and rise of national revolutionary spirit, new interpretation of saving the nation in the history of ancient Ba-Shuand transformation of Ba-Shucustom and cultural psychology.Sichuan Railway Protection Movement did not only raise the curtain of national culture awakening or revitalization, but also pointed out the direction of Chinese culture modernization.
