Abstract: Australian English is one of the varieties of British English. Since Australia became an English colony in the late eighteenth century, Australian English has developed for over two hundred years with integration of indigenous languages and cultures as well as other immigrants'languages and cultures subsequently. Nowadays, Australian English is a kind of English variant with its unique features. Based on the language materials in the historical works Convincing Ground, this paper will try to explore the cultural features and influencing factors of Australian English and its culture for the purpose of raising cross-cultural awareness and competence of language learners.
