Abstract: The Fan family in Chengdu had a great influence on academic and political fields in Song Dynasty, but few systematical studies have been found on the family's pedigree through cultural relics This paper does a comprehensive research into the literature and three epitaphs of the Fan family. It proves hat cultural relic is the evidence as important as literature to academic study, and more achievements can be made through scientific categorization differentiation and application.
