Abstract:
Intersentenciality is a rhetoric device in ancient Chinese poems, which refers to mutual reference of meaning between two sentences or two components of one sentence. Intertexuality is an important term in post-modern textual theory. The two different terms have exerted significant influence on the strategies of textual interpretation. The evolution of interpretation idea from intersentenciality to intertexuality indicates the widening vision of interpreters and a further understanding that textual meaning comes not only from the text itself but also from the mapping of "others". This evolution is the inevitable results of civilization development and a breakthrough of text-centeredness in textual meaning exploration.
