Abstract:
Sichuan and Hubei were the mian tea production areas recorded in the Tang Dynasty book,
The Book of Tea. As of the Song Dynasty, tea drinking had been popular among the ordinary people. For the finance of the Song administration, taxes from tea and salt were second only to that from the land. What's more, Sichuan produced tea was the supporting section of the country's finance which was supported by tea-horse trade model. Back then, Sichuan was also active in tea trade. Thus tea and its trade played a major role in the coordination and administration of the south-western part of the country.
